In traditional marketing, a product is any tangible or intangible object that has value, satisfies a need or want, and can be offered in exchange for something else.  This item may be a pair of jeans or maybe a rug cleaning service, but it is always something that someone else finds value in and is willing to pay for.

The concept of web product sales remains remarkably similar to traditional marketing definitions.  However, the classifications of a web-centric product are distinctly unique.  It is important for you to look carefully at these classifications and match your current products within one of these categories.  Although I will discuss this further a little later, it is important to note that not all products are ripe for the web.  In fact, some products are downright lousy to try to promote on the web and your money and efforts might be better placed elsewhere.  However, for now let's take a look at the three different web-centric products.
